Ours is a difficult business, writing. If it weren't for a more-than-healthy dose of compulsion, I would imagine most of us (read: me) would default to engaging in some more obviously lucaritive endeavor. Blockbuster Video franchisee comes to mind.
Therefore, when you're having a good week, it is probably worth taking a break and enjoying the fruits of your labors. I won 1st place in the Tulsa Library Writing Contest, and the awards ceremony was today. It's a win, and I intend to enjoy it as much as I can.
Hence, another cheat week here on the blog. Stay tuned here in the next few weeks for a brief study of unhappy endings, my attempts to re-kindle my romance with my typewriters, and if the stars do truly align, some thoughts on returning to the directors chair for the first time in nearly fifteen years.
In the meantime, enjoy your wins where they may come. I know I will.
